This was the first penhold bat I used after trying out a bunch of different models. Since I tended to put a lot of inconsistent effort into my strokes due to the lack of muscle memory this ended up being the perfect bat. At the beginning, I was using my whole body and trying to learn just control the ball control. If that is what you are doing then this is the bat for you. If you need more control over speed then go with this soft carbon-- especially if you are a bigger stronger person. If you go with a faster bat at the start, you will find that the ball misses the table a lot. It can really delay improvement. Nonetheless, this was the bat that taught me my strokes. Now I upgraded to a faster bat and am doing well.

If you are a beginner to the pen hold style then this is an amazing bat. Learn your stroke. Learn proper technique. Learn mechanics. Once you are happy with your advancement then switch to a faster bat or to one that suits your style better.
